29th Call for Proposals from the Commodities Pool Fund (CFC): An Opportunity for Cape Verde
The 29th Call for Proposals under the Common Fund for Commodities (CFC) represents a crucial opportunity for Cape Verde to boost the development of its commodity value chains. This call for proposals, with a deadline for submission of 1 October 2026, offers vital funding for projects aimed at improving the production, processing, marketing and diversification of primary products and, consequently, creating added value for local communities.
Cape Verde, with its potential across a range of sectors – from fisheries and aquaculture to agriculture and the exploitation of natural resources – stands to benefit significantly from this initiative. Projects that promote the adoption of sustainable practices, technological innovation, access to international markets and capacity building will be given priority. Improvements to support infrastructure, capacity-building for small-scale producers and integration into more complex value chains are areas that should be explored in applications.
The focus on value chains is particularly relevant for an archipelago facing the challenges and opportunities of Cape Verde. By strengthening the links between the various stages of the chain – from primary production to the end consumer – it is possible to create more jobs, increase incomes and ensure a more equitable distribution of benefits. The CFC seeks to support projects that demonstrate a significant economic and social impact, with clear potential for long-term sustainability.
It is imperative that Cape Verdean stakeholders – whether public bodies, the private sector, cooperatives or civil society organisations – prepare in good time for this call. The preparation of robust and well-founded proposals, which address the country’s specific needs and propose innovative solutions, will be key to success. Access to international funding, such as that provided by the CFC, acts as a catalyst for economic development and resilience in the face of external vulnerabilities. We strongly encourage all interested parties to review the CFC’s criteria and guidelines to maximise their chances of success and contribute to a more prosperous future for Cape Verde.
The deadline for submitting proposals is 1 October 2026.
