The programme Community365 continued his tour of civil society organisations with a visit to the Delta Sports, Leisure and Cultural Group, situated in the Achada Grande Frente neighbourhood, in the city of Praia.

Founded in 1987, the club is a leading organisation in the promotion of sport and socio-educational development, using football and futsal as tools for inclusion, education and the personal development of children and young people in the community.

The Comunidade365 team, represented by Ana Bela Lopes, met with the representative Ivanilde Barreto, gaining an in-depth understanding of the organisation’s work, the challenges it faces and the opportunities for institutional strengthening.

The Delta Group currently has around 80 athletes and regularly takes part in tournaments, regional championships and national competitions, helping to promote sporting talent and encourage young people to engage in healthy activities.

The visit forms part of the programme’s assessment and monitoring process Community365, which aims to strengthen Cape Verdean civil society organisations by improving their management, governance, sustainability and social impact.

By recognising the work carried out by organisations such as the Delta Group, Comunidade365 reinforces its commitment to empowering community associations which, on a daily basis, promote local development and create opportunities for the younger generations.
