The Maracanã Sports Association once again stands out in the Cape Verdean social and community landscape by securing, for the second consecutive time, funding for social inclusion initiatives, this time within the framework of the Small Projects Fund 2026, financed by the Portuguese Embassy in Cape Verde. Among the eight projects selected nationally, the project presented by the association once again received technical support from WeCare, a service provided to the association due to its membership in the Comunidade365 network and because it was the winning project of the Kumunidadi Summit 2025, in the Comunidade365 category.

This new funding comes just months after Maracanã secured support for another social project, announced in March of this year, also with technical assistance from WeCare. This trajectory demonstrates Maracanã's growing capacity to transform sport into a tool for community development, inclusion, and the creation of opportunities for young people and families in vulnerable contexts.

The partnership between Maracanã and WeCare has established itself as an example of strategic collaboration between community organizations and specialized technical support structures. In addition to preparing applications, the support includes institutional capacity building, project structuring, and strengthening the sustainability of the initiatives presented.

The consecutive success of the applications also highlights the importance of investing in strengthening local organizations, enabling them to access funding mechanisms and expand the social impact of their actions in Cape Verdean communities.

With this new recognition, Maracanã reinforces its role not only in sports, but also as an active agent of social transformation, while WeCare consolidates its mission to support community projects with the potential to generate sustainable impact in Cape Verde.
