RICH Hub has launched a call for proposals aimed at African innovators specialising in artificial intelligence applied to climate issues, with no set deadline for applications. This initiative aims to drive forward technological solutions that will help the continent tackle the challenges of climate change, promoting resilience and sustainable development through AI.

For Cape Verde, this is a strategic opportunity. The archipelago is particularly vulnerable to the effects of climate change — prolonged droughts, rising sea levels and extreme weather events — making it an ideal location for testing and implementing artificial intelligence-based tools for weather forecasting, water resource management and renewable energy.

Aims of the initiative

• To support artificial intelligence projects focused on climate adaptation and mitigation;
• To strengthen local innovation ecosystems in African countries;
• To forge partnerships between entrepreneurs, researchers and public institutions;
• To provide mentoring, funding and international visibility to the selected solutions.

Who can apply
Start-ups, independent researchers, academics and non-profit organisations from Cape Verde and other African countries that are developing climate AI solutions. Applicants must submit prototypes or pilot projects with the potential to scale up and have a real impact on communities.

Benefits for successful candidates
Access to seed funding, specialist technical support, participation in accelerator programmes and integration into a continental network of climate innovators. For the Cape Verdean archipelago, this means establishing itself as a leading hub in the Atlantic for the use of green technology.

How to apply
The process is simple and takes place entirely online. Interested parties should complete the application form, describing the problem addressed, the AI solution developed and the expected results. It is recommended that applications be submitted as soon as possible, as applications are assessed on an ongoing basis.

Deadline and application link
There is no set deadline for applications (applications remain open until further notice).
