Information on financing
- As part of its mandate to catalyze and facilitate technical and scientific cooperation, the Bio-Bridge Initiative (BBI) currently provides seed funding of up to US$20,000.
What are the main services offered by BBI?
- Help Center:
- to assist Parties in articulating their needs and requests for assistance and to facilitate the matching of needs with available support through effective partnerships.
- Interactive web platform:
- providing a one-stop shop for submitting support requests and accessing information on existing technical support opportunities, as well as access to selected resources, including case studies, replicable success stories (“positive points”), best practices, and lessons learned.
- Meetings and roundtables:
- To mobilize international, regional, and national organizations and networks to support the Bio-Bridge Initiative in facilitating TSC and to catalyze new TSC initiatives.
- Initial funding mechanism:
- To provide occasional seed funding to catalyze TSC initiatives on specific topics related to biodiversity.

Election criteria
- Applicants from countries that did not receive funding during previous rounds of the Bio-Bridge Initiative are strongly encouraged to apply.
- The following institutions are eligible to apply for seed funding support:
- Relevant government agencies, academic and other institutions research and non-governmental organizations in the Parties from developing countries and in the Parties with economies in transition;
- Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities;
- The seed funding support is intended for project proposals that promote exemplary approaches to technical and scientific cooperation (TSC) between at least two countries.
- Eligible cooperation proposals must involve project partners and/or technical assistance providers from at least two or more countries.
