The Centre for Environment and Society (ESC) provides governments, businesses, and societies with information, networks, and tools to address environmental challenges and advance the world toward a sustainable future through independent and innovative research. The Centre for Environment and Society houses the Sustainability Accelerator, a key initiative that champions the Chatham House approach and places sustainability at the heart of its work. Launched in 2021, the Accelerator investigates and shares innovative ideas that enable radical change, allowing us to thrive without depleting our planet's resources.

As a policy accelerator, it strives to combine the best evidence-based policymaking with the experimental approach of the entrepreneurial community, acting as a springboard for ideas and solutions to some of its biggest environmental challenges.

Your role will be fundamental in defining the strategic direction of the Sustainability Accelerator. You will oversee and deliver the team's multidisciplinary research approach at the intersection of sustainability with innovation and finance. You will help shape a strategy to bring together change agents in sustainability to build ideas, collaborate, and experiment.   • Salary of £65,000 per year.

Eligibility

  • The candidate must be an established leader in defining innovative agendas on environmental sustainability and its intersection with one or more of the following: finance; innovation; built environment; land economy.
  • Proven track record of effective communication across different media – and creative in identifying and delivering unique communication opportunities.
  • Proven experience in the successful delivery of substantial initiatives or high-impact, multidisciplinary work programs.
  • A track record of planning and leading research projects with tight budgets and deadlines.
  • A capable fundraiser with experience in securing financial support from philanthropic foundations, government departments, international organizations, businesses, and NGOs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships internally and with external stakeholders.
  • A creative problem solver with the skills to explore new ways of thinking.
  • Work experience in a highly collaborative environment, partnering with colleagues, larger teams, and external partners.
  • Demonstrable experience in leadership and team building.
