30 September 2026: Regional researchers have a golden opportunity to shape the future of Cape Verde’s media landscape. This is the deadline for submitting proposals for a crucial project aimed at deepening our understanding of media dynamics across the archipelago, with a particular focus on its communities and the diaspora. The initiative, which seeks to draw on the talent and expertise of local specialists, promises not only to produce a comprehensive and insightful report, but also to equip participants with valuable experience in research and the analysis of media policy.
Our project aims to identify and analyse emerging trends in news production and consumption, the impact of digital platforms on the dissemination of information, and the role of the media in promoting social cohesion and sustainable development. We also aim to examine how media narratives are constructed and received by the various communities in Cape Verde, and how these connect with the diaspora globally. We believe that the perspective of regional researchers is essential for capturing the cultural, social and political nuances that define the Cape Verdean media landscape.
Those selected will be responsible for conducting in-depth research, gathering data from a variety of sources – including interviews, surveys and content analysis – and contributing to the production of a high-quality final report. This report will not merely be an academic document, but a practical tool for policy-makers, civil society organisations and media professionals, informing future strategies and promoting a more robust and equitable media ecosystem. This is a unique opportunity for researchers to actively contribute to building a more informed and participatory future in Cape Verde.
To express their interest and apply for this transformative initiative, researchers are invited to submit their proposals by 30 September 2026.
