You can apply for the Green Box – Artist Residency 2027 programme until 30 September 2026! This is an unmissable opportunity for artists from Cape Verde who wish to develop their work in a creative and stimulating environment, whilst immersing themselves in an enriching experience that combines artistic creation with cultural immersion. The Green Box programme is internationally recognised for its commitment to supporting and promoting contemporary art, offering artists the tools and space they need to explore new ideas, techniques and perspectives.

The Green Box artist residency offers an intensive period of focus on individual artistic practice, whilst encouraging collaboration and the exchange of knowledge amongst the residents. Selected artists will have access to fully equipped studios, curatorial support and the opportunity to engage with a diverse network of arts professionals, ranging from theorists to fellow practitioners. This multifaceted interaction is crucial for the development of new approaches and for broadening the scope of artistic work.

In addition to the time devoted to their creative work, the Green Box programme encourages residents to take part in community activities and to share their art with local and international audiences. This aspect of community engagement is particularly relevant for Cape Verde, an archipelago with a rich cultural heritage and a growing desire to establish itself on the global art scene. The presence of artist-in-residence programmes has the potential to invigorate the local cultural scene, inspire new generations of talent and foster intercultural dialogue.

Participants will have the opportunity to present their work through exhibitions, talks or workshops, thereby contributing to the sharing of knowledge and the promotion of their artistic careers. The visibility gained through the Green Box programme can serve as a significant springboard for Cape Verdean artists to gain international recognition, opening doors to new collaborations and opportunities.
