Deadline: 12 August 2024
The International Council of Voluntary Agencies (ICVA) is inviting applications to support NGOs in the development and dissemination of Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) outreach and communication materials.
The aim of the PSEA Fund is to support the critical work that non-governmental organisations (NGOs) do every day to ensure that the people they serve are fully aware that humanitarian assistance is never conditional on any transaction or exchange of any kind and to prevent situations of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA). The Fund responds to the need for effective and timely information, education and communication materials on SEA that are adapted to local cultural contexts, operational realities and groups that are most at risk, while taking into account, among others, considerations of language, literacy, age and ability.
The Fund promotes the localisation agenda, investing in community-led efforts to help ensure that survivors know how and where to report SEA safely. It is rooted in the recognition that local capacities and knowledge, including affected communities' own rights-holders, are essential to effectively strengthen protection against sexual exploitation and abuse.
Since its launch in 2020, the Fund has generated huge interest from NGOs, community organisations, safeguard experts and other humanitarian actors involved in PSEA activities, with more than 5,500 applications received so far. Every year, all eligible applications are analysed and evaluated by an inter-agency Steering Group made up of representatives from UN agencies, NGO networks and NGOs. To date, 56 projects have been supported through grants of around 20,000 dollars each to strengthen PSEA through greater awareness and community involvement and more than 2 million rights holders will have benefited from the Fund.
