O Investigative Journalism Fund – up to $10,000 This represents an unprecedented opportunity for media professionals in Cape Verde seeking to explore issues of social, political or environmental significance in greater depth. In an ever-changing media landscape, financial support is essential to ensure that complex stories do not merely scratch the surface, providing journalists with the time and resources needed to thoroughly investigate matters of public interest.
This funding programme has been designed to strengthen the local journalism ecosystem by promoting transparency, civic accountability and journalistic rigour. By providing grants of up to ten thousand dollars, the initiative aims to cover logistical costs, access to databases, reporting trips and other expenses associated with the production of high-quality journalism. Proposals that demonstrate an innovative and ethical approach, with a tangible impact on Cape Verdean society, will be given priority.
Participation is open to freelance journalists, media organisations and multidisciplinary teams wishing to raise the standard of investigative journalism in the country. We believe that valuing investigative work is a fundamental pillar of democracy, capable of sparking necessary debates on issues that often escape day-to-day public scrutiny. Now is the time to turn sound ideas into reports that make a difference.
