Applications are now open for the GSMA Innovation Fund for Humanitarian Challenges 2024 As global humanitarian needs continue to grow, there is an increasing demand for responses with innovative, impactful, and scalable solutions, powered by mobile and digital technology. On December 11, GSMA launched the GSMA Innovation Fund for Humanitarian Challenges.
The Fund will provide grants, as well as additional technical and non-financial support, to projects that leverage mobile and digital technology to test and scale solutions that address humanitarian challenges in low- and middle-income countries. The specific objective of this new Fund is to test innovative use cases, partnerships, and business models that can improve access to sustainable digital solutions for those affected by – or vulnerable to – humanitarian challenges.

Grant
- Successful projects will receive a grant of between £100,000 and £250,000 to expand their innovation over a period of 15 to 18 months.

- Open to small and growing for-profit businesses (commercially viable start-ups, small and medium-sized enterprises, and social enterprises with up to 250 employees).
- To provide humanitarian solutions to vulnerable and low-income populations in countries eligible to receive official development assistance.
- Leverage digital technology, especially mobile technology, to deliver solutions.
- To be an existing entity registered and operating in the country where the project is being implemented (whether domestically owned, foreign-owned, or a joint venture).
- To be in full compliance with relevant commercial licensing, taxation, employee, and other regulations in all applicable countries of operation of the concession project.
- Applicants must be registered and have a bank account in the country where they will receive the grant money (if it is not the same country where the project is being implemented). This account must be able to receive payments in British pounds, as all disbursements will be in British pounds.
Application
All applications to the Fund must be submitted in English. Applications cannot be edited after submission. Applications cannot be submitted after the deadline of 12 February 2024 at 23:59 UTC (UK time). Any drafts that include personal data will be deleted after that time.
