M4D Challenge: Open Innovation for Resilient Food Systems
O M4D Challenge: Open Innovation for Resilient Food Systems This initiative emerges as crucial for rethinking and strengthening how Cape Verde ensures food security and the sustainability of its food systems. In an island context, with challenges inherent to climate variations, import dependence, and the need to optimize scarce resources, the search for innovative and collaborative solutions is more pressing than ever. This challenge aims precisely to catalyze creativity and the application of new technologies and business models that make our food systems more robust, efficient, and adaptable to the demands of the 21st century.
An open innovation approach is fundamental in this context. By promoting collaboration between entrepreneurs, researchers, producers, policymakers, and civil society, the M4D Challenge aims to unlock a vast potential of knowledge and experience. We believe that sharing ideas, co-creating solutions, and jointly implementing projects are the pillars upon which we will build a safer and more sustainable food future for all the islands. We focus on areas such as digital agriculture, efficient water management, valuing local products, reducing food waste, and strengthening value chains, always with a keen eye on social and environmental impact.
The primary objective is to drive the development of scalable prototypes and solutions that can be effectively implemented in Cape Verde, generating added value for communities and the national economy. We want to see the emergence of innovative companies, disruptive technologies, and transformative practices that not only increase the productivity and resilience of our food systems but also ensure more equitable access to nutritious, quality food for the entire population. This challenge is a call to action for all who share this vision and wish to actively contribute to a more promising food future.
Applications for the M4D Open Innovation Challenge for Resilient Food Systems are open until March 30, 2025For more information and to submit your proposal, please visit: https://oms.aws.venturewell.org/go/m4d-stage0-2026
