Funding Opportunity: Transforming Urban Spaces for Children in Cape Verde

O Active Play 2026 Challenge It presents an unmissable opportunity for local authorities, non-governmental organisations and community innovators in Cape Verde who are seeking to transform urban spaces into more dynamic and healthy places for children. As part of the global programme Cities for Better Health, this initiative aims to support creative projects that promote play and physical activity in everyday city life, combating a sedentary lifestyle amongst children and significantly improving the quality of life for younger generations.

In urban centres such as Praia, Mindelo and Espargos, population growth and rapid urbanisation make it urgent to create safe and stimulating environments for outdoor play. The funding made available through this initiative will enable high-impact urban interventions to be implemented, such as the regeneration of public squares, the creation of safe and colourful routes to school, or the development of community programmes that encourage families to make active use of public spaces.
