ASIF Ignite Africa – Cohort 1: Clima 2026 Start-ups
The initiative ASIF Ignite Africa – Cohort 1: Clima 2026 Start-ups It has emerged as a strategic response to the climate challenge facing the islands of Cape Verde, combining technological innovation with social impact. The programme focuses on supporting local entrepreneurs who are developing sustainable solutions – ranging from renewable energy to water resource management – that can be replicated in other island communities. By integrating international mentoring, seed funding and networking with change-makers, the programme creates an ecosystem conducive to the scaling up of climate projects.
The proposal is based on three main pillars:
- Technical and scientific training – online workshops and modules focusing on climate modelling, the circular economy and the design of low-carbon products.
- Access to start-up capital – grants of up to €50,000 to validate prototypes, run pilot schemes and purchase critical equipment.
- Global connectivity – matchmaking sessions with investors, European universities and NGOs working on climate resilience projects.
For entrepreneurs in Cape Verde, taking part in this cohort represents an opportunity to turn environmental challenges into competitive advantages, creating green jobs and improving the quality of life in local communities. In addition to the direct benefits, the selected projects may receive support in certifying their processes and promoting best practice on international platforms.
How to apply: The application process is open until 17 August 2026. Those interested should submit their project proposal via the official portal: https://bfaglobal.com/adaptation-small-and-medium-sized-enterprises-innovation-facility-asif/ignite/
