Descriptions of responsibilities, expected competences and educational requirements differ depending on the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About the Award:<\/strong>&nbsp;The United Nations Young Professionals Programme (YPP) is a recruitment initiative for talented and highly qualified professionals to start a career as an international civil servant with the United Nations Secretariat. It consists of an entrance exam and professional development programmes, once successful candidates begin their career at the UN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The United Nations Young Professionals Programme examination is held once a year and is open to nationals of countries participating in the annual recruitment exercise. The list of participating countries is published annually and varies from year to year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Type:<\/strong>&nbsp;Internships\/work<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eligibility:<\/strong>&nbsp;Interested candidates<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>must have the nationality of a participating country.<\/li><li>must hold at least a first-level university degree relevant to the exam subject you are applying for.<\/li><li>must be 32 years old or older in the year of the exam.<\/li><li>must be fluent in English or French.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>United Nations Secretariat staff working in the General Service and other related categories who aspire to a career in the Professional and higher categories are encouraged to apply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Selection criteria:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Your application will be scrutinised to determine whether you are eligible for the exam in the subject you have applied for.<\/li><li>If more than 40 candidates from the same country apply for the same examination area, these candidates will be further selected and ranked by a Human Resources Officer according to the points given for the following additional qualifications: completed higher education, knowledge of official UN languages and relevant work experience.<\/li><li>Please be aware that many potential candidates do not pass the screening stage due to incomplete or inaccurate applications.<\/li><li>If your application is successful, you will be informed that you have been invited to take the exam.<\/li><li>If it is determined that you are not eligible to apply or if your application is unsuccessful, you will be informed that you have not been called for the exam.<\/li><li>You can check the status of your application by entering your application number in the search section on the central call and exam page (See link in the Application Process on Link&nbsp;<strong>from the website<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>of<\/strong>&nbsp;programme below).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Number of awards:<\/strong>&nbsp;Not specified<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Premium amount:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Wage and post office adjustments<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Rent subsidy<\/strong>&nbsp;If you are a newcomer to the labour market, your rent represents a very high proportion of your total remuneration.<\/li><li><strong>Dependency allowances<\/strong>&nbsp;if you have an eligible dependent spouse and\/or child(ren).<\/li><li>Under certain conditions, a&nbsp;<strong>education grant<\/strong>&nbsp;if you have eligible children at school.<\/li><li><strong>Travel and transport expenses<\/strong>&nbsp;when you are moving from one petrol station to another.<\/li><li><strong>Granting of assignment<\/strong>&nbsp;to help you meet the extraordinary initial costs of arriving at or moving to a new petrol station.<\/li><li>In some jobs, a&nbsp;<strong>difficulties<\/strong>&nbsp;linked to living and working conditions is paid and where there are restrictions on bringing in family members, a&nbsp;<strong>non-family allowance<\/strong>&nbsp;is also paid for.<\/li><li><strong>The payment<\/strong>&nbsp;risk and&nbsp;<strong>rest and recovery break down<\/strong>&nbsp;when you serve in places where conditions are particularly dangerous, stressful and difficult.<\/li><li>Many more benefits.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Programme duration:&nbsp;<\/strong>2 years.
