The aim of the Research Development Fellowship Programme is to provide opportunities for talented health researchers based in Africa to lead research that responds to their African context and can contribute to reducing the burden of disease. It aims to develop emerging African scientists by building their skills, experience, confidence and research results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Africa Research Excellence Fund (AREF) fellowships offer awardees the opportunity to develop their own research ideas, research skills and capabilities, to grow their research relationships through collaboration and mentoring, and to work towards a substantial research funding proposal.<strong>Benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The scholarship offers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A three- to nine-month internship at a leading research institution in the UK, Europe or Africa, with additional support at your home institution before and after the internship.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Up to \u00a347,000 available.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong>Open to early career researchers based in Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eligible candidates are research-active post-doctoral scientists and clinicians with higher qualifications who are nationals of and employed in Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Application<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You need to do the following before starting your application:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Read\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/africaresearchexcellencefund.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/RDF-2024-25-Scheme-Information.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">enrolment scheme information<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Carefully review the\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/africaresearchexcellencefund.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/RDF-2024-25-Guidance-on-Completing-the-Application-Forms.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Guidance on filling in application forms\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/africaresearchexcellencefund.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/AREF-Terms-and-Conditions.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AREF Terms and Conditions<\/a>\u00a0.
