With the aim of shaping the next generation of leaders in business reporting, they launched the Stigler Center's Resident Journalists Programme in 2017. The programme provides a transformative learning experience for journalists working in all forms of media around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants spend approximately 12 weeks at the Stigler Center's Hyde Park campus, attending classes, participating in Stigler Center events, collaborating with colleagues and networking with the university's academics. Journalists with a few years of media experience, proficient English and an interest in deepening their knowledge and understanding of political economy are encouraged to apply.<strong>Benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The programme offers exclusive seminars, opportunities to study with world-class professors and the chance to interact with colleagues from all over the world. Details include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reimbursement of economy class airfare to\/from Chicago and SEVIS and visa application fees<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A grant of US$ 14,000 to cover living expenses during the 12-week programme<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Business fundamentals training at Chicago Booth<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participation in seminars and workshops at Chicago Booth and throughout the university<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An opportunity to write for the publication ProMarket<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Opportunities to collaborate with teachers, students and other participants in the Booth programme<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Designated study space<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Certificate of participation upon successful completion of the programme<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open to journalists from all over the world;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Journalists with a few years of media experience, proficient English and an interest in deepening their knowledge and understanding of political economy are encouraged to apply.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Programme expectations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Programme participants are expected to:Audit three classes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Attend and participate actively in class and complete all required readings and assignments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Attend Stigler lectures, lunches and social events, as well as other events recommended by the centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sign a letter of agreement with the centre to indicate that the guidelines and expectations of the programme are mutually agreed upon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Application<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To be considered for the programme, the following items must be submitted via the online application:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Curriculum vitae<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Personal statements describing interests and programme objectives<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Two letters of recommendation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Three news items published<br><em>If the articles are not in English, a translation should be sent along with the original articles. For TV or radio journalists, include links to your video\/audio files in a PDF or Word document along with transcripts in English.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>(If applicable) Proof of English proficiency<br><em>Non-native English speakers must submit proof of English proficiency (waived if the undergraduate or postgraduate degree was obtained at a college\/university where English is the main language of instruction or in an English-speaking country).<br>Examples of proof of English proficiency include: Certificates or standardised test scores (TOEFL, IELTS, SAT, ACT, Cambridge, Duolingo, etc.); Diploma or English equivalency certificate awarded by an accredited national educational institution; Work experience in an English-speaking office with a letter from the manager stating language skills<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants will be notified of the final decisions in December.
