The bravery and determination of women journalists will be recognised in a new annual prize awarded by the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) and the International Union of the Francophone Press (UPF). Launched in response to the growing threats and risks faced by women journalists, the name is a tribute to Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, who was killed in the Jenin refugee camp while reporting live on 11 May 2022. The inaugural prize will be awarded in December. 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Prize<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The winner of the Shireen Abu Akleh Prize will receive a cash prize of \u20ac5,000. The prize can be split equally between two winners.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open to women journalists and media professionals worldwide, regardless of their nationality, working language or media platform.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Candidates must hold a professional press card or similar recognised professional accreditation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They can be nominated by themselves, by their media organisations or by endorsement from third parties, accompanied by detailed descriptions of their journalistic contributions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The nature of the courage and commitment honoured will be up to the judges - but these could be qualities demonstrated in overcoming challenges in the workplace, as well as in writing reports in dangerous environments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Appointment<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications should be sent by e-mail to the following addresses:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>International Federation of Journalists (IFJ):\u00a0<strong>ifj@ifj.org<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>International Union of the French-speaking Press (UPF):\u00a0<strong>sg@presse-francophone.org<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Prazo: 15 de outubro de 2024 Est\u00e3o abertas as indica\u00e7\u00f5es para o&nbsp;Pr\u00eamio Shireen Abu Akleh 2024&nbsp;.
