Founded out of the need to address the crises of biodiversity loss and climate emergency, WE Africa recognises the urgent need for diverse leadership in addressing these global challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Overview of the WE Lead programme<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WE Lead is an annual 12-month leadership experience designed specifically for women environmental leaders in Africa. Since its creation in 2021, the programme has been designed in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/opportunitiesforyouth.org\/2024\/08\/05\/applications-for-we-lead-2025-cohort\/#\">&nbsp;collaboration<\/a>&nbsp;with leadership experts and WE Africa fellows. It is structured around key pillars, including personal leadership, well-being, collaboration and peace-building, visibility for impact and radical imagination. Graduates of the WE Lead programme become part of the WE Move community, amplifying their impact through collective action and mentoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What the WE Lead programme offers:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Participation in a community of experienced African women leaders in the environmental sector.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Twelve months of personalised 1:1 leadership coaching.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Opportunity to redefine your leadership vision and take part in personalised development activities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Weekly online sessions to complement your ongoing work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Two face-to-face retreats that promote intensive community building and personal growth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To explore more about WE Africa's transformative journey, take a look at our&nbsp;<a>Programme itinerary<\/a>&nbsp;, get to know our current&nbsp;<a>scholarship holders<\/a>&nbsp;and listen to them directly on this&nbsp;<a>video<\/a>&nbsp;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Is the WE Africa Leadership Programme for you?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The WE Africa Leadership Programme caters for individuals who resonate with the following sentiments:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Looking for a supportive community within the environmental sector.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Aspiring to hone inclusive leadership skills and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/opportunitiesforyouth.org\/2024\/08\/05\/applications-for-we-lead-2025-cohort\/#\">\u00a0collaborative .<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Striving to reconnect with personal values and energy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Managing team well-being in a high-stress environment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Considering succession planning and organisational legacy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Looking forward to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/opportunitiesforyouth.org\/2024\/08\/05\/applications-for-we-lead-2025-cohort\/#\">\u00a0collaborate<\/a>\u00a0and share resources with like-minded leaders.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Committed to promoting diverse African leadership within their organisation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Election criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WE Lead is open to women who meet the following criteria:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>African citizens, citizens or permanent residents of an African country for at least 15 years.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Minimum of 8 years of professional environmental experience in Africa, including at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Commitment to participate fully in the 12-month programme.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>History of guidance and support for future environmental leaders.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reliable internet access and the ability to attend scheduled sessions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support from your organisation or direct subordinate to participate fully.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Willingness to contribute to programme costs and travel expenses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Note: Scholarships are available through the WE Africa Xolelwa Hlalu Scholarship Fund on the basis of financial need.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Important dates<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>01 July:<\/strong>\u00a0registration open<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>16 August:<\/strong>\u00a0application deadline<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>19th September:<\/strong>\u00a0Candidates notified for interviews<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>10 to 12 October:<\/strong>\u00a0Final round of interviews<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>15 November:<\/strong>\u00a0Public Announcement of 2025 Scholars<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The deadline for entries is Friday 16 August at midnight, East African time.<\/em><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A miss\u00e3o da WE Africa \u00e9 capacitar mulheres l\u00edderes em toda a \u00c1frica para impulsionar mudan\u00e7as transformadoras no movimento ambiental atrav\u00e9s de uma lideran\u00e7a inclusiva e colectiva.
