The Moses Mapesa Research Scholarship supports African doctoral and master's students in the field of natural and cultural heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The prize will support research projects centred on the following topics related to a World Heritage Site or a provisionally listed site in Africa:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Traditional Management Systems,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Risk management and preparation,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Heritage in conflict and post-conflict situations,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Heritage management and conservation,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Heritage and Climate Change,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Heritage and Economy\/Entrepreneurship,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Heritage and Sustainable Development,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promoting and raising awareness of heritage,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Heritage and Digital Technologies,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Heritage and Law.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Grant<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The grant amounts will vary depending on the research proposals, with a maximum award of US$ 5,000. The field research must be carried out within a period of no more than 9 months from the signing of the contract (May 2025 to February 2026).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Open to students who are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Currently or will be enrolled in a PhD or Master's programme by 2025\u00a0\u00a0<em>(Masters 2 for French-speaking countries)<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0at an African university and carrying out dissertation research in the field of natural or cultural heritage at an African World Heritage Site;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fluent in English, French or Portuguese;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Citizens of a Member State of the African Union that is party to the World Heritage Convention.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Application<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All applicants must send the following application pack:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The completed application form (co-signed by the supervisor)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A letter of motivation from the candidate (1 page maximum)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Candidate's updated curriculum vitae (maximum 2 pages),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Candidate's current academic transcript,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Research proposal (maximum 2 pages) including the following:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Full name, affiliated university, country, degree level, research title and related World Heritage Site or provisional site listed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Description of the research (goal\/objectives, research question\/s, relevance, significance, justification and scope)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Research methodology (approach, timeframe, analysis),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bibliography<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Budget (indicate funds from all sources, specifically indicating the fieldwork items for which the subsidy would be earmarked, with justifications as to why this is necessary)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>How to apply<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The application form (English, French and Portuguese versions) can be requested by sending an email to\u00a0\u00a0<strong>bridgetd@dbsa.org<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Completed applications should be sent by e-mail (as an attachment) to\u00a0<strong>\u00a0info@awhf.net<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0(with a copy to\u00a0\u00a0<strong>bridgetd@dbsa.org<\/strong>\u00a0) before the deadline. However, applicants are strongly encouraged to submit their proposals before the deadline.
