The Jana Robeyst Trust Fund (JRTF) is providing financial resources to budding biologists\/conservationists to carry out vital conservation and research work on the ground in Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Information on financing<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n
    \n
  • Small grants of up to 1,500 euros will be awarded.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
    Eligible projects<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n
      \n
    • The eligible project will have a clear conservation value and be based in a sub-Saharan African country. Preference will be given to elephant-related projects. Educational projects will also be considered.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Travel costs for presenting the project at a conference or taking part in a workshop\/training programme will also be taken into account.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Purchase of field equipment, if essential for completing the fieldwork.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
      Ineligible projects<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n
        \n
      • Pure research will not be funded. Research projects will be considered if they demonstrate benefits applied to conservation and\/or target an identified conservation need.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Living costs, salaries, thesis production costs, retrospective costs, fundraising costs and debt repayments will not be considered for funding.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Office equipment and participation in internship and volunteer programmes will not be considered unless they are essential to the completion of the fieldwork or benefit an identified conservation need.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
        Election criteria<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

        • The JRTF aims to provide relatively small levels of funding for ongoing projects or pilot programmes with a clear conservation value.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • This funding programme is open to early career biologists for projects in sub-Saharan Africa. They accept projects related to the conservation of mammals and especially (forest) elephants. Applicants can be based anywhere in the world.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
