Action For Nature (AFN), a non-profit organisation, has created the International Young Eco-Hero Awards to recognise and reward successful individual environmental initiatives by young people aged between 8 and 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AFN encourages young people around the world to carry out individual environmental action projects. They believe that young people can have a positive impact on the environment and are vital to changing the way we live on our planet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p action-based and self-initiated, and is not assigned by a teacher or other adult.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The project must be at least 6 months long and close to completion or completed within the last year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the project is an invention, some tests must be completed before application.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Science Fair and Scout Badge projects will only be considered if they include environmental action, educational outreach to third parties or extended studies beyond the Science Fair and Scout Badges.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They do not accept (a) projects related to domestic or confined animals, (b) compositions or reports.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Previous winners, immediate relatives of AFN board members, members of the active reading panel or judges may not apply.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Judging Criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Preference is given to projects that are more than 2 years old and\/or ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Applications will be judged according to various criteria, including but not limited to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>originality<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>difficulty<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>organisation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>time dedicated to the project<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>influencing\/educating others<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>use of external resources (e.g. library, experts, media, community leaders)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>degree of success in achieving goals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the impact on the
