The award usually lasts 8 years, but can be shorter for some disciplines, such as humanities and social sciences. The award can be carried out on a part-time basis. They will extend the duration of the award to reflect this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You can apply for a Wellcome Discovery Award if you are a researcher who wants to pursue bold and creative research ideas. You should aim to make a major contribution to your field of research:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>generating significant changes in understanding and\/or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>develop methodologies, conceptual frameworks, tools or techniques that can benefit health research.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You are expected to actively promote a diverse, inclusive and supportive research environment within your team and across your organisation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your research can be in any discipline - including science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM), experimental medicine, humanities and social sciences, clinical\/allied health sciences and public health - as long as it has the potential to improve human life, health and well-being, and is aligned with the funding mission.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Research can be in a single discipline or multidisciplinary.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An award can be carried out by an established researcher or a team of researchers led by an established researcher.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Evaluation criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They will analyse your research proposal, skills and experience and research environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Your research proposal<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To be competitive, your research proposal will be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Bold.&nbsp;<\/strong>The aim is to provide a significant change in understanding and\/or provide a significant advance over existing methodologies, conceptual frameworks, tools or techniques.
