The aim of this initiative is to empower journalists, content creators and communicators with the skills and knowledge they need to report effectively on climate-related issues affecting their regions. This project is part of the Rockefeller Foundation and CNN Academy's commitment to amplifying diverse voices and promoting accurate and impactful climate reporting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The selected climate storytellers take part in a comprehensive media training programme offered by CNN Academy that covers various aspects of reporting on climate change, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Understanding climate science and its impact on local communities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Investigative journalism techniques and data-based reporting in the context of climate change.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strategies for communicating complex scientific information to diverse audiences.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ethical considerations in climate reporting, including community engagement and representation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Multimedia storytelling approaches, including visual storytelling, video production and social media engagement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Best practices for fact-checking, verifying sources and combating disinformation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The selected participants are fully sponsored to take part in the media training programme, which includes travel expenses (if applicable), accommodation, training materials and meals during the programme.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Upon completion of the training, participants also obtained a Certificate of Achievement from CNN Academy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The final documentaries produced by the participants will be shown on CNN or on a CNN Academy platform.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Live and work in a country located in the Global South, which includes any developing country in Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa and Asia.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify yourself as a content creator, journalist or storyteller in the early stages of your career.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have a demonstrable interest and passion for telling stories about climate change, with a portfolio of relevant work, if applicable.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have strong communication skills and fluency in written and spoken English.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrate the commitment to actively participate in the entire training programme and apply the skills acquired in their reporting projects.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be able and willing to travel to Abu Dhabi for the CNN Academy Climate Storytelling Simulation from 3 to 10 December.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Selection process<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Proposals will be assessed on the basis of the candidate's experience, demonstrable commitment to climate reporting and the potential impact of participation in the programme on their work.
