{"id":4454,"date":"2023-10-06T08:32:00","date_gmt":"2023-10-06T09:32:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wecare.center\/?p=4454"},"modified":"2023-10-06T08:32:00","modified_gmt":"2023-10-06T09:32:00","slug":"convite-a-apresentacao-de-candidaturas-pequenas-subvencoes-para-projectos-de-patrimonio-africano","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wecare.center\/en\/bolsas-e-fundos\/convite-a-apresentacao-de-candidaturas-pequenas-subvencoes-para-projectos-de-patrimonio-africano\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for applications: Small grants for African heritage projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Deadline:<\/strong>&nbsp;Ongoing Opportunity<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Heritage Management Organisation (HERIT\u039bGE) and the Mellon Foundation are launching a new call for concept notes for small grants (US$ 5,000 to US$ 50,000) for organisations, groups and individuals working on heritage across the African continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NEW TRAINING COURSE<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How NGOs\/non-profit organisations can raise funds in the modern business landscapeSIGN UP TODAY<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The grants are part of the Heritage Management Project - Africa (HerMaP-Africa), which is funded by the programme&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/social-sciences-sociology-humanities\/\">Humanities<\/a>&nbsp;in Place of the Mellon Foundation.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/latest-funds-for-ngos\/\">They will finance<\/a>&nbsp;projects that focus on protecting and\/or promoting local heritage for development&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/economic-development\/\">socio-economic<\/a>&nbsp;on the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Criteria<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>There are three main criteria for these small grants:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Sustainability<\/strong>\u00a0The focus should be on projects that will have a lasting impact, going far beyond the duration of the project.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Potential examples:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Protecting heritage sites from desertification by creating green belts, especially where these green areas can increase the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/environment\/\">biodiversity<\/a>, bringing benefits to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/agriculture\/\">agriculture<\/a>&nbsp;and encourage&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/tourism-travel\/\">tourism<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Preserving\/stabilising\/restoring and adaptively reusing a historic building as a community archive and space&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/events\/\">events<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/research\/\">Research<\/a>&nbsp;on the landscape of public heritage<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Installing solar panels on property that will generate income or reduce expenditure, even after calculating service and maintenance costs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Construction of tourist infrastructures, using environmentally friendly solutions and a good business plan behind their construction, including a proposal&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.fundsforngos.org\/category\/business-industry\/\">of<\/a>&nbsp;community use.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Direct interventions that strengthen social institutions, such as traditional mediation methods, help communities to discuss and overcome problems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Capacity building and network building -<\/strong>\u00a0They encourage projects that will strengthen local skills and build closer links with peer organisations in the Heritage Management Organisation network.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Potential examples:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On-the-job training in preventive conservation measures, such as cleaning or fencing off premises.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exchange of experiences and expertise with other local NGOs in Africa, for example on shared issues such as desertification or site erosion.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cooperative training in museum exhibition design during the creation of an interpretation centre.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Concrete and community impact -<\/strong>\u00a0They encourage projects with solid, measurable returns in terms of heritage protection and benefits for the local population.
