The African Union Youth Volunteer Corps (AU YVC), established in 2010, is a flagship continental Youth Leadership program that recruits, trains, and deploys young African professionals from all 55 AU Member States to serve as professional volunteers for a period of 12 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The AUYVC promotes volunteering to deepen the status of young people in Africa as key actors in Africa&#039;s development goals and objectives, improving their participation in policies, programs, and initiatives for the realization of the AU&#039;s Agenda 2063 \u2013 &#039;The Africa We Want&#039;. It brings people together to share skills, knowledge, creativity, and learning to build a more integrated, prosperous, and peaceful continent, driven by its citizens. The concept is in line with the Decision of the Heads of State and Government of the AU at Assembly\/AU\/Dec.274 (XVI) of January 2010, to create a Continental Volunteering initiative and promote volunteering to empower young people and accelerate Africa&#039;s development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The African Union Commission and partners will cover the full costs of pre-deployment training and subsequent deployment of volunteers for successful candidates. African Union Youth Volunteers receive the following benefits and opportunities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A unique opportunity to engage in the highest continental policy and programs of the African Union.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Network with young African leaders from across the continent.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Economy ticket back to the deployment site.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A monthly stipend to cover living expenses.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Health insurance coverage<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>UA service passport<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Separation allowance upon successful completion of twelve months of service.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Training and mentoring opportunities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open to citizens of an AU Member State living on the mainland or in the Diaspora.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Between 18 and 35 years old (must be under 35 years old upon completing 12 months of service).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have certified post-secondary qualification(s) (TVET, bachelor&#039;s degree, master&#039;s degree, etc.).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Available in 2023\/24 to dedicate 12 (twelve) months to professional volunteering.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Willing to live and work in another AU Member State.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Is proficient in at least one working language of the UA (Arabic, English, French, Portuguese, Swahili, Spanish).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Has at least one year of verifiable volunteer experience and one year of experience in<br>professional work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Required skills<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Proficient computer skills (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proficiency with email and internet applications.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Good interpersonal skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proficiency in one of the working languages of UA staff (French, English, Portuguese, Arabic, Spanish, Kiswahili) and fluency in another UA language(s) is an added advantage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Essential skills<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ability to communicate clearly<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to write clearly and concisely<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be committed to the work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to work harmoniously in a multicultural environment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To possess the highest standard of moral conduct and integrity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Application<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications must be submitted by Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at 11:59 PM EAT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The following documents will need to be attached:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Your updated professional resume (no more than 3 pages)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bio page of your passport or identity document.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Copy of the certificate of your highest completed qualification (transcripts are not acceptable)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attach a letter of recommendation (less than 2 years old) attesting to your leadership qualities (in the manifesto folder).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Attach your cover letter.
