The North American Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) has announced that the US$ 2 million Environmental Justice for Climate (EJ4Climate) grant programme is now open for applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This EJ4Climate grant cycle will focus on projects in Canada, Mexico and the United States that integrate community-led environmental education in support of environmental justice and community resilience to climate-related impacts, with up to C$ 200,000 in grants available to recipients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The EJ4Climate Grant Programme provides funding directly to community organisations and seeks to support environmental justice by facilitating the involvement and empowerment of communities in finding solutions and developing partnerships to address their environmental and human health vulnerabilities, including those arising from the impacts of climate change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second EJ4Climate grant cycle will address the theme \"Integrating community-led environmental education in support of Environmental Justice and Climate Resilience\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Priorities<\/strong>
In line with the theme of this grant cycle, priority will be given to projects by community organisations that meaningfully integrate formal or informal community-led environmental education approaches into their design and implementation plans. These approaches include, but are not limited to:
*Practical activities and place-based learning.
*Citizen science initiatives .
*Exchanging knowledge with older people.
*Training and capacity building.
*Awareness-raising campaigns.
*Involvement of young people as agents of change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Financing information<\/strong>
*Up to C$ 200,000 in grants available to beneficiaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eligibility criteria<\/strong>
*The CEC is calling for initiatives that meet the following criteria:
*Support community resilience to climate change and climate-related impacts.
*Benefit disadvantaged and vulnerable communities and\/or indigenous communities and ensure the meaningful participation of local residents.
*Include a solid implementation plan that identifies actors, actions, beneficiaries, targets and tangible and measurable results.
*Create partnerships, collaborations or formal or informal links between the relevant stakeholders.
*The EJ4Climate grant programme welcomes projects that, for example, address extreme climate impacts, support the transition to clean energy and\/or transport systems, carry out conservation or restoration work or employ traditional ecological knowledge to deal with the impacts of climate change.
*Eligible candidates include non-profit and non-governmental organisations (NGOs), civil society groups, environmental groups, community associations, religious organisations, tribal nations and indigenous peoples and communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
