As part of the management of the FEMCOACH project in Cape Verde, WeCare, on behalf of the Cape Verdean Olympic Committee (COC), coordinated the programme\u2019s first community activity, marking the completion of the international FEMCOACH Train of Trainers course, which took place between 22 June and 4 July 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


During this period, four Cape Verdean trainers \u2014 Alissa Andrade, Olivia Boyarm, Otelinda Brito and Isaura Maocha \u2014 successfully completed the training programme, which was designed to prepare national facilitators capable of implementing and replicating the FEMCOACH methodology in Cape Verde.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training focused on practical tools for developing inclusive sports programmes, promoting gender equality, women\u2019s leadership and the empowerment of girls and women through sport.
As the organisation responsible for managing and implementing the project in the country, WeCare organised, on behalf of the Cape Verdean Olympic Committee, the community event that brought this training phase to a close. The initiative brought together young people and community leaders, marking the first practical application of the FEMCOACH methodology in the country and laying the foundations for the programme\u2019s future activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The Cape Verdean Olympic Committee\u2019s participation in this initiative forms part of the Development of National Sport Structures (DNSS) programme, supported by the International Olympic Committee, and prepares Cape Verde for the national roll-out of FEMCOACH. The official launch is scheduled for the final quarter of 2026, following the 2nd International Seminar in Girona, and will continue throughout 2027, over a 15-month implementation cycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The programme will be tailored to the Cape Verdean context and rolled out in Praia and other municipalities, involving young women, grassroots coaches and community leaders. Implementation will be coordinated by the Cape Verdean Olympic Committee, with operational management by WeCare and in close collaboration with national partners, reinforcing the joint commitment to promoting equal opportunities, women\u2019s leadership and inclusion through sport.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
