The aim of this funding project is to select a group of Cape Verdean photographers, promote themed workshops and organise a travelling exhibition across the islands of Santiago and Sal, thereby strengthening cultural identity and fostering local creativity.

By supporting this competition, public authorities and private institutions can raise funds to nurture emerging talent, create public exhibition spaces and forge partnerships with international collectors. Furthermore, the initiative contributes to sustainable tourism development, as high-profile photography projects attract visitors and generate a positive economic impact on local communities.

In line with the objectives of the National Culture Policy, the programme encourages the creation of images that capture the intersection between natural light, colour and identity, providing teaching materials for schools and universities and fostering critical thinking about the visual representation of the country.

In summary, participation in the aforementioned “Dia da Luz 2026” will enable Cape Verde to expand its artistic portfolio, create added value for its cultural heritage and open doors to funding opportunities on a global scale.

Application deadline: 16 September 2026.
Link to application: https://spie.org/community-support/international-day-of-light/idl-photo-contest/idl-photo-contest-general-entry

Find out how the “Dia da Luz 2026” competition, organised by SPIE, can transform your perspective on light in the Cape Verde islands, with workshops and exhibitions in the communities of Santiago and Sal.

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false
_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[5
4006,4002,4003,1460,4004,4001,400,4005
post-16927","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-bolsas-e-fundos","tag-candidatura-2025","tag-dia-da-luz-2026","tag-exposicao-itinerante-santiago-sal","tag-fotografia-cabo-verde","tag-politica-nacional-de-cultura","tag-spie-concurso-internacional","tag-turismo-sustentavel","tag-workshops-fotograficos
https://i0.wp.com/wecare.center/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/dia-da-luz-2026-1782774431.jpeg?fit=1880%2C1253&ssl=1
["GET
