We recognize that in many regions, including Cape Verde, women farmers face significant challenges, from limited access to resources and funding to cultural and social barriers that restrict their full potential. This award aims not only to highlight the remarkable achievements of innovative and resilient women in agriculture, but also to serve as a catalyst to inspire new generations and promote policies that foster gender equality in the field.

In Cape Verde, women play a crucial role in agricultural production, nourishing their families and communities through hard and often undervalued work. They are guardians of traditional knowledge, promoters of sustainable agricultural practices, and agents of change on small and large farms. The “Women in Agriculture Award 2026” aims to give visibility to these exceptional women, recognizing their dedication, creativity, and the positive impact they generate. By rewarding their contributions, we seek to create role models that inspire other women in Cape Verde and around the world to undertake, innovate, and lead in the agricultural sector.

This international award recognizes projects and entrepreneurs who have demonstrated excellence in areas such as sustainable agriculture, technological innovation, water resource management, food security, agroecology, and community development. We intend for the “Women in Agriculture Award 2026” to function as a platform for sharing knowledge and best practices, strengthening support networks and promoting growth opportunities for women in agriculture. We believe that by investing in women farmers, we are investing in a more prosperous, equitable, and sustainable future for Cape Verde and the planet.

Applications for this prestigious award will be open for submission until July 10, 2026.

For more information on eligibility criteria, categories, and to submit your application, please visit: https://www.dlg.org/en/detail/-applications-for-the-women-in-ag-award-now-open

Get ready to meet the incredible women who are shaping the future of agriculture with the **Women in Agriculture Award**!
