The objective of this UNCCD COP17 Reporting Grant \u2013 Journalists (Global)<\/strong> This grant aims to provide journalists from around the world with the unique opportunity to cover the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). This fellowship seeks to deepen understanding and dissemination of crucial themes such as land degradation, drought, and nature-based solutions, essential for the sustainability of our planet. By supporting journalists on this mission, we intend to amplify the voices and stories emerging from COP17, promoting a more informed and engaged dialogue about the environmental threats we face and the innovations that can mitigate their impacts. We believe that robust and qualified media coverage is fundamental to mobilizing public opinion and influencing the formulation of effective policies.<\/p>\n

This initiative positions Cape Verde at an important central point in the global fight against land degradation. The archipelago, with its inherent natural vulnerabilities, deeply understands the challenges of drought and desertification. The active participation of Cape Verdean and international journalists in this event, through this grant, will not only offer a platform for the issues affecting island nations and developing countries, but will also highlight the adaptation and resilience strategies that have been implemented. COP17 will be a unique opportunity to share knowledge, establish partnerships, and identify concrete pathways for land restoration and the sustainable management of natural resources, contributing to a safer and more prosperous future for all.<\/p>\n

Selected journalists will have the opportunity to interact directly with experts, policymakers, and representatives of civil society, gaining firsthand perspectives on the debates and outcomes of COP17. The grant will cover the costs associated with travel, accommodation, and participation in the event, allowing recipients to focus on producing high-quality reporting that reaches a wider audience.
