This type of cancer, largely preventable through vaccination against the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and effective screening programs, remains a significant cause of mortality and morbidity in many developing nations. However, with the implementation of targeted strategies and investment in health infrastructure, it is possible to reverse this worrying trend.

The Cape Verdean archipelago has been demonstrating a growing commitment to the health of its women. Expanding HPV vaccination coverage, especially among adolescents, is a fundamental pillar of this long-term strategy. Early vaccination ensures protection before exposure to the virus, being the most powerful tool in primary prevention. In parallel, the implementation and strengthening of screening programs, such as cytology (Pap smear) and, more recently, HPV testing, are crucial for the early detection of precancerous lesions, allowing for timely and less invasive interventions.

However, the effectiveness of these measures depends on a robust and accessible health system. This implies not only the availability of vaccines and tests, but also the continuous training of health professionals, the guarantee of access to diagnostic and treatment equipment, and the creation of mechanisms to reach the most remote and vulnerable populations. Empowering communities with health literacy and demystifying taboos associated with sexual and reproductive health are equally important to increase adherence to prevention and screening programs.

Collaboration between the government of Cape Verde, international organizations, civil society, and the private sector will be essential for the success of this initiative. Sharing knowledge, financial and technological resources, as well as adapting approaches to better suit the Cape Verdean context, are crucial steps to consolidate the progress achieved and accelerate the path towards elimination. This is an investment in the future of women in Cape Verde and a testament to the country's commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals.

Funding proposals and partnerships to support these efforts will be considered until [date]. April 9, 2026For more information on how to contribute or request support, please visit: https://unitaid.org/apply-for-funding/

Let's take a decisive step together to **eliminate cervical cancer** and ensure a healthier future for all women!

{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

5
367,2763,2769,2764,2765,2770,2768,2767,331,2766
post-15834","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-bolsas-e-fundos","tag-cabo-verde","tag-cancro-do-colo-do-utero","tag-citologia","tag-eliminacao-cancro","tag-hpv","tag-papanicolau","tag-prevencao-cancro","tag-rastreio-cancro","tag-saude-publica","tag-vacinacao-hpv
https://i0.wp.com/wecare.center/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/pexels-photo-7723560.jpeg?fit=1880%2C1253&ssl=1
["GET
