The impact of Sport Accelerator Labadvanced course promoted by the Community365This is already beginning to be felt in the area. Proof of this is the mentor Carlos Tavareswho successfully led the realisation of the Kumunidadi Fest 2025a large-scale community event held in the neighbourhood of Ponta d'Águathe city of Praia, by the hands of the Maracanã association.
With the technical support of Comunidade365 and in conjunction with various local and international partners, the event brought together more than 1680 people in a single day, in 23 cultural, sporting, social and entrepreneurial activities, positioning itself as a one of the biggest community festivals in the country.
From training to practice: real impact on the territory
Carlos Tavares is one of the participants in the advanced course Sport Accelerator Lab 2025This training programme enables leaders to turn sport into a tool for community development and youth leadership.
Kumunidadi Fest in numbers:
- 1681 participants
- Favela Cup e Street Basketball with young people from all over Praia
- Kumunidadi Empreendelocal products and services fair
- Urban culture: graffiti, muralism, Spoken Word and Kriolo Clash
- 28 partner organisationsThese include the representation of the Central Única das Favelas in Cape Verde, the Azorean association Aprender a Viver, the Ministry of the Family, Praia City Council, Record Cape Verde and others.
Legacy and international projection
As well as revitalising local pride and generating income for the community, the festival opened doors to new opportunities:
- A Declaration of Ponta d'Água will be presented at the World Forum of Favelas, South Africa (November 2025)
- Young people selected to represent Cape Verde at World Slum Cup 2026, Dakar Youth Games and the CUFA Music Festival
- Rehabilitation of the Ponta d'Água EBI sports centre with the support of partners
