Santa Cruz, Santiago - Cape Verde - From 15 to 20 September, the municipality of Santa Cruz will be the starting point for the Community365 2.0with the realisation of the first Bootcamp of the programme. The event will bring together community leaders, coaches, athletes and representatives of grassroots sports organisations in an environment of training, innovation and collaboration.

The initiative officially marks the start of a programme that aims to transform community sport in Cape Verde, strengthening its role as a driving force for social development. sustainable development, inclusion and social welfare.

Over six days, participants will have access to practical and theoretical training on governance, gender equality, fundraising, digital innovation e social impact. The aim is to strengthen skills and create the conditions for sport to be a tool for positive change in communities.

A programme with national impact

O Community365 is financed by Cape Verde Olympic Committeethrough its Olympic Academyand implemented by the social enterprise WeCarein partnership with Social Development Hub. The Bootcamps will run from September to December 2025, complemented by MOOCs, webinarstools artificial intelligence and a technical assistance platform for grassroots sports organisations.

The programme responds to pressing challenges such as the low youth participation, a gender disparity in leadership and lack of financial and technical resources.

In line with Agenda 2020+5 of the International Olympic Committee and with the Olympism365Comunidade365 2.0 is based on three strategic pillars:

  1. Digital education and learning resources to improve governance and management.
  2. Financial sustainability community organisations.
  3. Promoting networks and partnerships through Community Social FairThe event will bring together sports projects and potential funders.

A movement that is already taking root

The programme Community365launched in 2024, its mission is to certify the good governance of organisations that use sport to promote social impact in Cape Verde.

On the day 17th July 2025During the anniversary of the Cape Verdean Olympic Committee, certificates were awarded to the first four organisations recognised by the programme: Maracanã Cultural and Sports Association, EFAT (Achada Grande Trás Football School), Fidel Mendonça Foundation e AISAPH-CV (International Academy of First Aid and Pre-Hospital Care of Cape Verde).

With the start of the Bootcamp in Santa Cruz, Comunidade365 2.0 takes the first step towards creating structural and lasting changes in the capeverdean sports ecosystemcontributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and for a fairer, healthier and more inclusive society.
