A Community365 is back on the ground. On 25 September, the programme's Licensing Manager, Silvana Cabral, paid a visit to the Fontom Community Association (AC Fontom) with the aim of getting to know the activities carried out by the association, as well as presenting the programme which aims to strengthen the role of sport as an essential instrument for achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Founded on 8 June 2016, AC Fontom works directly with families and children in situations of social vulnerability, promoting initiatives aimed at human and community development.
Under the leadership of president David Moreno and the support of a 22-member team, the association uses sport - with an emphasis on football and basketball - as a tool for inclusion, integration and engagement of local youth. Currently, 23 athletes actively participate in the sporting activities promoted by the organisation.
In addition to sport, AC Fontom carries out various social and cultural activities aimed at strengthening community ties and helping to build a more just, cohesive and supportive society.
This Community Visits programme365 aims to promote the certification of organisations that are creating community impact while respecting the rules of good organisational governance in the third sector. Funded by Olympic Committee, through its Olympic AcademyThis programme is implemented by the social enterprise WeCare in partnership with Social Development Hub.
