The Yali Regional Leadership Centre, West Africa, invites applications for its Emerging Leaders Programme (Cohort 37).

Eligible countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, the island nation of Cape Verde, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, the island of St Helena, Senegal, Sierra Leone, São Tomé and Príncipe and Togo.

Selection criteria: Selection for participation in the yali West Africa Regional Leadership Centre will be carried out as an open competition based on merit. All eligible applications will be reviewed by a selection panel. The chosen semi-finalists will be interviewed prior to the final selection and an invitation to participate in the programme will be issued.
The selection panels will use the following criteria to evaluate applications:
- Leadership demonstrated in public service, business and entrepreneurship, or civic engagement.
- Active involvement in public or community service, volunteering or mentoring.
- The ability to work co-operatively in different groups and respect the opinions of others.
- Strong social and communication skills.
- An energetic and positive attitude.
- A demonstrated knowledge, interest and professional experience in the selected sector/track, and
- A commitment to apply leadership skills and training to benefit their country and/or community after the programme.

- Business and Entrepreneurship: This track caters for the range of emerging or aspiring entrepreneurs who hope to take on leadership roles in the private sector or build their own ventures on the continent.
- Civil Society Management: This track is aimed at those who are or aspire to be civically engaged and serve the public through non-governmental organisations, community organisations or volunteering.
- Public Policy and Management: This track is tailored to those working or aspiring to work in any level of government (including elected positions), regional organisations such as the African Union or the West African Community, international organisations such as the United Nations or other public-minded organisations or think tanks.
