Young Leaders for a Sustainable Cape Verde: The WIA Philanthropy Impulse Program

The philanthropic drive among young leaders in Cape Verde is a growing and vital force for the archipelago's sustainable development. Recognizing the transformative potential of this generation, the “WIA Young Leaders – Philanthropy” program emerges as a crucial platform to empower and mobilize these emerging talents. This innovative program aims not only to identify but also to nurture young entrepreneurs and thought leaders who demonstrate a deep commitment to the social and economic well-being of their communities. Through specialized mentorship, access to strategic networks, and the opportunity to implement innovative projects, we intend to provide the necessary tools for participants to become effective and sustainable agents of change.

The initiative is intrinsically linked to the promotion of philanthropic solutions that directly address the specific challenges of Cape Verde. This includes, but is not limited to, job creation, quality education, accessible healthcare, environmental protection, and the promotion of gender equality. The program will select young people with businesses and social projects that demonstrate not only economic viability but also a strong positive social and environmental impact. We believe that social entrepreneurship, driven by a philanthropic mindset, is a fundamental engine for building a more prosperous and equitable future for all Cape Verdeans.

We will select a diverse group of young leaders from different islands and sectors, ensuring comprehensive representation of the country's diverse realities. The training will cover essential skills in management, leadership, finance, social marketing, and fundraising, tailored to the specific needs of the Cape Verdean context. The involvement of renowned local and international partners will offer participants a global perspective and the opportunity to share valuable experiences. By strengthening the capacity of these young leaders, we are investing in the country's human capital and sowing the seeds for endogenous and resilient development.

The success of this initiative will be measured not only by the number of projects implemented, but also by the depth and sustainability of their impact. Participants will be encouraged to develop and execute innovative business models that generate long-term economic and social value, thus promoting the self-sufficiency of communities. The spirit of philanthropy advocated by this program aims to instill a culture of corporate social responsibility and active citizenship among the future leaders of Cape Verde.
