Applications are now open for the One Young World Pernod Ricard grant to attend the OYW Summit 2024 . The fellowship will identify and connect an interdisciplinary team of 10 committed young leaders who are working to build positive social spaces and combat harmful alcohol consumption and its wider impacts in their countries and communities. The fellows will receive full funding to attend the One Young World Summit 2024, which will take place in Montreal, Canada, from 18 to 21 September 2024.
The academics will attend the Summit as members of the Pernod Ricard delegation, will have opportunities to help shape their interventions at the event and will receive expert guidance to accelerate their initiatives. In addition, all academics will contribute to a collective project designed to inform Pernod Ricard's thinking on the future of socialising and efforts to reduce harmful alcohol consumption.

Eligibility
Successful candidates will share Pernod Ricard's ambition to encourage positive social occasions and combat harmful alcohol consumption. They will have an active impact in supporting these aims through their own projects, as emerging leaders in larger organisations or by contributing to collective understanding through research. Relevant activities include:
- Prevention and education initiatives aimed at reducing excessive alcohol consumption.
- Prevention initiatives aimed at reducing social damage.
- Projects that address the harmful impacts of excessive alcohol consumption.
- Projects that improve physical and psychological safety in social environments.
- Projects that encourage communities to come closer together, the know being together and educational initiatives around social inclusion and combating isolation.
- Research into the habits and behavioural patterns of Generation Z, trends in socialisation, including the role of alcohol in this interaction.

- Willing to commit to contributing to a collective post-Summit project together with other scholars.
Collective Project
All the fellows will take part in a collective project that will result in a concrete recommendation/set of recommendations to Pernod Ricard. The theme of the collective project will be decided collaboratively by academics from a set of suggested themes that include:
- Social connections within communities: How can we bring people even closer together in the current social climate and create moments of celebration/union while fighting isolation and exclusion?
- Focus on culture and society: What role do celebrations and parties play in our society in the future, and what role does alcohol play in this? How can we ensure that these social interactions and moments of togetherness are safe, responsible and inclusive? What does convivialité mean and what will it look like in the future?
- The role of prevention during these interactions: What initiatives can be developed to ensure that social gatherings are safe for everyone? How can responsibility and prevention be integrated into social gatherings in a positive way? How can prevention programmes have more impact?
- Generation Z and its influence: How can Generation Z define a new drinking culture? What is their role and influence in this?
Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate their ability and interest in contributing to the collective project. This time commitment will involve: 2-3 preparatory meetings before the September Summit (between April and September), a physical meeting in Montreal parallel to the Summit and 1 meeting per quarter for the year following the Summit. Individual meetings will be organised with each delegate for presentations.
In addition, extra mentoring and consultancy sessions can be added based on the needs of the fellow and the opportunities available within the Pernod Ricard network. Some reflection and brainstorming may be required outside of these meetings to further develop the collective project.
