About the role
We are looking for a passionate UN Advocacy and Network Officer to drive CIVICUS' advocacy priorities within various UN human rights mechanisms in Geneva, with a particular emphasis on the Universal Periodic Review (UPR). In addition to advocating for human rights, the role involves promoting network engagement and providing support to our members. The successful candidate will be adept at interpreting and synthesising information on trends in the civic space, aligning with CIVICUS' mission and the needs of our members.
Main requirements
- A degree or diploma in international relations, law, politics or relevant social sciences from a reputable university. Exceptions can be made for exceptional experience.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in international policy development or advocacy, with at least 2 years in a similar position.
- Demonstrable experience in engaging with various social actors and building networks within civil society.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in IT skills, including MS Office.
- Solid understanding of international relations, policy formulation and global politics.
- Familiarity with UN systems and processes, especially in human rights, including committees and special procedures.
- Ability to interact effectively with diplomats and officials from intergovernmental institutions.
- Commitment to human rights values.
