Who we're looking for

The Global Good Fund Fellowship is designed for innovators, entrepreneurs and leaders of for-profit and non-profit social impact organisations. This programme targets emerging leaders and entrepreneurs from diverse ethnic, religious, economic, geographic and gender backgrounds. Ideal candidates are deeply committed to self-discovery and development and should hold a full-time leadership position in a social enterprise that has ideally been operational for two to five years.

How we selected

We are looking for leaders who are expanding their companies and who are looking to develop their leadership skills in alignment with the needs of their organisation. Candidates should be eager to receive coaching, possess a constructive mindset and be excited about the personalised guidance that will drive their businesses and teams to success. Ideal candidates must be fully committed to our 12-month hybrid programme.

Our enrolment process

Phase I: Preliminary Questionnaire (May - June)

• A series of short-answer questions to assess alignment with our scholarship criteria.
• Estimated completion time: 30 minutes.

Phase II: Comprehensive Application (July to August)

• Mandatory video submission to share your story.
• Two letters of recommendation.
• Financial viability model.
• Short answer questions about:
  • Impact measurement
  • Unique aspects of your company
  • Leadership and coaching potential
• Estimated completion time: 1-2 hours.

Phase III: Interview (October - November)

• A 30-minute video interview.
• Candidates should invite a colleague or member of the community to vouch for their work.

Election criteria

• The enterprise must have been in operation for at least two years.
• The company must employ at least two full-time paid employees.
• The candidate must be the main decision maker (e.g. C-Suite, Co-founder, Executive Director).
• The candidate must be fully committed to running the company.
• The company must be mission-orientated, aiming for a social impact beyond profit.

Additional considerations

• The company can be for-profit, non-profit or hybrid.
• The company's scope of work can be international, national or both.
• The company must have an effective business model and the potential for long-term expansion.
• The company should address issues in sectors such as Financial Inclusion, Environment, Education, Economic Mobility and Health. Other sectors can be considered based on the potential for social impact and systemic change.
• Applicants must not receive formal training or mentoring support from other scholarships during the same cycle.

Frequently asked questions

What if you don't fit all the criteria?

• You can still apply! Be explicit in your application about why you should be considered for the scholarship.

How many Fellows do you select?

• There is no set number; it varies from year to year. Our aim is to support as many entrepreneurs as possible.

Can I apply if I have an idea to start a business or if my business is a start-up?

• No, the business must be operational beyond the MVP stage and ready to scale.

If I'm not sure if I meet the criteria, can I contact someone to talk about it?

Can my co-founders sign up with me?

• Co-founders can apply, but applications are considered individually.

Can I apply if I'm not working full-time at my company?

• No, it requires full-time dedication to the enterprise.

My English is far from perfect, can I still apply?

• Yes, as long as you can communicate and hold a business conversation in English.

I wasn't selected, can I get feedback on my application?

• Due to the high volume of applications, we are unable to provide individual feedback. However, we encourage you to apply again, as many selected scholars have applied more than once.

If I get to the interview stage but am not selected, do I need to complete Phase 1 again?

• No, you will automatically qualify for Phase 2 the following year.

Are there other programmes I can be considered for if I'm not selected for the scholarship?

• Yes, candidates who reach the interview stage but are not selected for the scholarship will be considered for our LEAP Programme.
