Information on financing
  • Grants of up to £5,000.
Funding Criteria
  • Grants are available for charitable projects that benefit local communities in the parishes listed below. Eligible projects can be supported if they are proven to benefit a significant proportion of the local community living in the "area of benefit".
Eligible areas
  • The parishes of Alconbury, Alconbury Weston, Barham and Woolley, Buckworth, Easton, Ellington and Spaldwick.
Election criteria
  • Financing only not-for-profit, community-focused organisations, which must be legally registered if their income is over £5,000. This includes the following:
    • Registered, exempt charities.
    • Religious organisations if the project benefits the community in general and does not include religious content.
    • Parish and town councils, town councils and parish church councils
    • Incorporated charitable organisations (CIOs)
    • Community interest companies (CICs)
    • Social enterprises that have the Social Enterprise Mark
    • Co-operatives and community benefit societies (formerly industrial and provident societies)
    • Schools
    • Sports clubs that are community amateur sports clubs (CASCs), affiliated to a national governing body (e.g. Badminton England) or have an income of less than £5,000.
  • They support projects carried out in Cambridgeshire by national organisations, as long as the funding is restricted to this area of benefit. A very small number of their funds accept applications from outside Cambridgeshire.
  • They accept applications for a wide variety of projects and charitable causes and can fund project-related salaries, vehicle hire and capital items.
Ineligible
  • They don't finance the following:
    • Organisational structures not listed above or projects with a non-charitable focus
    • Activities or projects already carried out
    • Sponsored events, fundraising activities or organisations or activities that grant donations
    • Improvements to land/buildings that are not open to the general public at convenient times
    • Projects that promote political activities or lobby for causes
    • The practice of religion or any projects that actively promote religion, a particular belief system or even the lack of a belief. This is because such projects exclude some people from participation on religious grounds.
    • Animal welfare projects
    • Travelling abroad
    • Buying vehicles
    • Statutory obligations, i.e. activities that replace government funding
  • They also manage a limited number of funds that award grants to individuals. However, applications must be made by a reference organisation.
