During these 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, the African Union and Oxfam are teaming up to launch the subsidy "Stand with Her" to support rights organisations of women in Africa who are leading impactful campaigns to end gender-based violence (GBV).

The StandwithHer initiative aims to provide targeted funding to women's rights organisations in Africa, enabling them to lead impactful campaigns and projects to end GBV.
The focus is on supporting women's rights organisations in implementing innovative initiatives, advocacy and communication efforts that address the root causes of GBV and contribute to the creation of safer and more equitable societies.
Information on financing
- Total funding for the initiative will be US$ 75 thousand.
- Each organisation will receive US$ 15 thousand.
- The initiative will be implemented in the form of a dedicated rapid response grant to support women's rights organisations from the 16 Days of Activism and up to 6 months afterwards.
Expected results
- Rapid deployment of funds leading to tangible results within 6 months of the 16 Days of Activism.
- Strengthening the capacity of women's rights organisations to address GBV at grassroots level.
- Greater public awareness and involvement in the fight against gender-based violence.
- Advocacy efforts influence political change and demonstrate the importance of sustained commitment.
- The seed initiatives will have long-term impact potential beyond the 16 Days of Activism.
Target groups
- The initiative will target five women's rights organisations, one each representing the five regions of the continent (East, West, North, South and Central).
Eligibility Criteria
- Scholars will be selected on the basis of the following criteria:
- Women's rights organisations (networked, grassroots, national or regional) that have a track record in implementing initiatives to combat gender-based violence. Organisations led by young women are encouraged to apply.
- WRO that can present innovative initiatives to end gender-based violence
- Organisations whose work is close to the beneficiaries
- Organisations from the 5 regions of the African Union
