The United Nations Alliance of Civilisations (UNAOC) is pleased to invite youth-led organisations to apply for the Youth Solidarity Fund (YSF). The appeal is open to organisations in selected countries whose work seeks to promote peace and social inclusion through better understanding, respect and collaboration across borders, cultures, faiths and beliefs.
"Our young people suffer disproportionately from the effects of violence, conflict, poverty and now COVID-19. Despite these obstacles and challenges, they continue to find ways to engage, support each other and demand and drive change," said UNAOC High Representative Miguel Moratinos. "Young people have the power to transform entire regions to make them safer, more peaceful and socially inclusive. With the Youth Solidarity Fund, the UNAOC supports them in their efforts to make our world a better place."
Through a competitive evaluation process, YSF will award seed funding of up to US$ 25,000 for the implementation of selected projects that demonstrate innovative approaches to intercultural and interreligious dialogue in line with UNAOC's mandate and mission. YSF only supports projects that are fully developed and managed by youth and for the benefit of youth.
Founded in 2008, YSF responded to calls from young civil society leaders around the world about the importance of establishing funding mechanisms for youth-led organisations. To date, YSF has funded 68 youth-led organisations in 40 countries.
In its ninth edition, YSF continues to provide comprehensive support to youth-led organisations, with a special focus on the role of young people in promoting peace, preventing violent extremism, tackling the rise in youth stigma and discrimination exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, promoting respect for other religions and cultures, and addressing hate speech and its impact on young people. It contributes to the implementation of various global policy frameworks, engaging young people in building peaceful and inclusive societies.
