The Sigma Awards is a competition to celebrate the best data journalism in the world. Entering its second year, it is also there to empower, uplift and enlighten the global community of data journalists.

Application deadline: 1st February 2021

The international data journalism community faces many challenges and we want to support them. This year's Sigma Awards will focus on highlighting the best data journalism on the pandemic (and creating an international database of these projects), as well as other topics such as politics, sport and the environment.

We want to bring together a community and support those who work with data, whether it's COVID-19 - because it's one of our community's priorities at the moment - or any other topic.
Sigma Price 2021

  • Spotlight on the world's best data journalism, with a real focus on those fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. A multitude of fascinating projects to tackle COVID-19 have been launched in recent months in all regions of the world. We want to celebrate this great work, share it with our community and have journalists learn from each other's projects;
  • Building a community that lasts beyond the rewards themselves;
  • Set up webinars, chats and gather online resources to solve the urgent problems faced by journalists today
  • . Use the prices as a way to unite, galvanise and expand data journalism communities around the world. At the centre of this project is the Sigma Awards team's ambition to promote collaboration and discussion between members of our community.
