Deadline: 22 January 2024

Registration is now open for the UN SDSN Youth Local Pathways Fellowship (LPF) Programme 2024 . The Local Pathways Fellowship (LPF) programme was launched by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network Youth Initiative (SDSN Youth) with the mission of empowering and equipping young urban leaders from cities around the world with the knowledge, resources and platform they need to advance progress on Sustainable Development Goal 11.

The LPF trains, supports and connects young urban thought leaders, activists and innovators who are transforming cities and urban areas. Applicants representing any city and country in the world are encouraged to apply, however SDSN Youth will endeavour to ensure diversity of regional representation among the fellows.

Roles and responsibilities

The LPF is a 10-month programme that takes fellows on a journey to "localise" SDG 11. The programme of activities has monthly results that revolve around:

  • Learn about the main challenges currently facing urban areas around the world and the extraordinary potential of these areas to enable change in the future. From infrastructure to culture and economic opportunities, learn how crucial it is to harness the power of urban development for global progress.
  • Channelling the ideas and knowledge acquired into the development of a project that addresses challenges pertinent to their city and area of interest; this will be the fellowship's main outcome and deliverable.
  • Connecting to the peer-to-peer network of more than 550 fellows from 180 different cities in 80 countries. This gives fellows the opportunity to exchange knowledge, share resources and build solutions with urban leaders from around the world
  • Getting insights and guidance from industry experts through the LPF webinar series.
