Deadline: Continuous opportunity
The Explorers Club is pleased to announce a new grant programme in partnership with Discovery, Inc.
Explorers Club Discovery Expeditions grants are aligned with The Club's mission to promote scientific understanding for the betterment of humanity and all life on Earth and beyond, including its commitment to mitigating climate change, preventing the extinction of species and cultures and ensuring the health of its lands, oceans and all that inhabits them.
What kind of expeditions are funded?
- Fieldwork in the following disciplines will be considered: biological sciences, archaeology, anthropology, palaeontology, earth sciences, ecology and astronomy, as well as exploratory projects that reveal new knowledge about the planet and its inhabitants, including regions undergoing significant environmental or cultural change.
- Although there may be laboratory components to a project, grants will provide funding for projects that are largely based on a field expedition.
- Fieldwork can be difficult and adventurous, but the programme will not consider projects purely focused on adrenaline exports or physical feats.
Financing information
- Grants generally range from US $ 25,000 to US $ 40,000.
Eligibility criteria
- The Explorers Club Expedition supports researchers and explorers from all over the world and provides them with a platform to shine a light on their discoveries - and with no restrictions on scientific publication or infringement of research property.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
- The proposed project will also be evaluated on its potential to inform and educate a global audience through inspiring narratives.
