There has been an increase in interest in carbon credits from companies and individuals looking to offset their carbon footprint.
Innovative start-ups and companies in sustainable technology and clean energy solutions, community water systems and those interested in developing carbon credit projects are welcome to apply.
Polo Sur is the leading global carbon project developer and climate solutions provider. We connect the projects we manage to our wide range of buyers around the world who are increasingly interested in buying credits, certificates and offsets as part of their voluntary corporate climate commitment.
Eligibility requirement
- CookersThey have the capacity to distribute 8,000 cookers in the first two years of the project.
- Community Water Systems: 10,000 houses included in the project, within 500 metres to 1 kilometre of the water point
- Renewable energyMinimum 10MW (or group different projects within the same country, e.g. 5MW x 2 = 10MW)
- BiomassBiogas and Biocomposting made from agricultural biomass waste - 36,000 tonnes of waste used per year.
- Other technologies welcome to apply
Eligibility
South Pole is also looking to obtain energy attribute certificates, commonly known as renewable energy certificates (RECs), from small-scale distributed solar assets across Africa. This is the D-REC Initiative scheme, a new programme that aims to increase revenues for distributed solar developers. You can find out more about D-RECs here.
The projects of interest are small-scale solar projects, typically from 50 Wp to 1 MWp in size, and include:
- Off-grid or grid-connected projects
- Rural electrification projects
- Water desalination projects
- C&I projects
- Agricultural projects
- Health projects
- Educational projects
To be eligible, your project must have access to your project's electricity generation data, ideally via remote monitoring. In addition, you must have ownership of your project's environmental attributes and not be monetising your project through any other environmental product.
Benefits
Successful ventures in the programme will benefit from:
- Support in the development of project description documentation with annexes and relevant calculations.
- We will hire and work with an independent auditor to obtain a validation and certification of the project that confirms that your project complies with the rules of the different standards.
- We will hire and work with an independent auditor for project verification, i.e. ex-post confirmation that the project has successfully reduced emissions.
- We will manage the project's carbon credit registry account and issue, transfer and retire the carbon credits.
- We will deliver the carbon credits to our global network of buyers.
- Additional support will be offered depending on unique project scenarios.
