Deadline : 22-Dec-22
Applications for the Women Who Tech start-up grant programme are now open for start-ups led by women around the world.
Financing Information
- A total of US$ 20,000 in non-equity grants will be awarded. One startup will receive an Innovation Grant of US$ 15,000 and another startup will receive an Impact Grant of US$ 5,000. All finalists will receive fundraising and investment support and much more.
Eligibility criteria
- This is a Global Grants challenge and startups from anywhere in the world can apply. No country or region is exempt.
- Non-profit organisations can apply
- You are invited to apply for Women Who Tech's latest scholarship programme. All eligible applications will be analysed by a judging panel made up of VCs, angel investors and serial entrepreneurs. Five finalists will be selected to participate in a cohort consisting of a virtual pitch training series and a pitch to investors.
Rules
- Your startup must be led by a woman, defined as having at least one woman founder or co-founder on the team. The woman (co)founder must be the person to launch. Note: Women Who Tech uses an inclusive definition of "woman" and "female" and welcomes trans women, genderqueer women and non-binary people who identify as gender non-conforming, women and/or females. People who identify with gender identities associated with the male and/or masculine spectrums are asked not to apply in order to increase space and access for people of historically oppressed and under-resourced genders.
- Your product must be in beta or already released to the public. You cannot apply if you are in the concept or prototype phase. Note: Beta means that your product has been launched and deployed to select users for initial testing to collect real-time feedback.
- You can't have raised more than US$ 7 million from combined sources.
- Your startup must incorporate technology into its product approach, which allows the company to grow quickly and massively in a way that traditional independent small businesses cannot. Note: using technology (i.e. hosting a blog, selling products on your website or using social media in your marketing) does not qualify as using technology to scale massively nationally and globally.
- Your startup must be growing rapidly with degrees of innovation.
- All ideas must be original work or an improvement on an existing idea with no infringements.
- Your startup can be based anywhere in the world. No region is exempt.
- Agencies or consultancy firms are not eligible, unless you have created a product that meets all the rules and criteria.
- Non-profit organisations are eligible to apply, as long as you meet all the criteria and rules.
- All entries must be submitted in English and all presentations must be made in English.
- Entries will be accepted from 28 November 2022 until 22 December 2022 at 23:59 PDT. You can submit your application at any time during this period. Late applications will not be accepted.
- Once you have submitted your application, you will not be allowed to make any edits or revisions. All applications submitted are final.
- Entries will only be accepted online via the Reviewer registration portal.
- No candidate may contact judges, sponsors and/or partners before the award process to defend their startup. Anyone who does so will be disqualified. If you have any conflicts of interest, please contact the Women Who Tech team before submitting your application.
- Startups that have received a grant through any Women Who Tech startup programme cannot apply again. Finalists from any previous Grant Programme or Startup Challenge who did not receive a grant are eligible to apply.
- Women Who Tech reserves the right to select and reject scholarship candidates at any time.
- All grant finalists are required to participate virtually in Women Who Tech's Startup Grant Programme, which includes pitch training and its pitch series for VCs.
