Applications are now open for the United Nations International Law Fellowship Programme 2024 . The Fellowship Programme offers high-quality training delivered by prominent international law academics and practitioners on a wide range of core international law topics. In addition, the interactive nature of the training allows participants to share experiences and exchange ideas, which promotes greater understanding and co-operation on contemporary issues in international law.

The Fellowship Programme is designed to enable qualified professionals, in particular government officials and professors of international law from developing countries and countries with emerging economies, to deepen their knowledge of international law and the legal work of the United Nations. The Fellowship Programme accommodates up to 20 participants from developing countries and countries with emerging economies.

The Scholarship Programme 2024 will be held at the Peace Palace in The Hague, the Netherlands, from 1 July to 2 August 2024. It will be conducted in English.

  • The fellowships cover the fellow's travel expenses in economy class, accommodation, medical insurance, participation in the Fellowship Programme, training materials and the registration fee for the public international law session at the Hague Academy of International Law. In accordance with the policies and procedures governing the administration of United Nations fellowships, participants will also receive a stipend to cover other living expenses.
  • Qualified candidates can also apply for self-funded positions. Self-funded participants bear all costs associated with their participation (travel, accommodation, living expenses and registration fee at The Hague Academy of International Law). Training materials are provided free of charge to all self-funded participants.

Eligibility

  • Candidates must have a legal degree and professional experience in the field of international law.
  • Successful candidates must certify that they are able to attend the Scholarship Programme in its entirety.
  • The Scholarship Programme will be conducted in English in 2024. Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
