Apply today for the Melton Foundation's Global Citizenship Learning Programme 2024.

Participants in the programme are university students who are committed to serving their communities and, through the Global Citizenship Learning Programme, can develop their capacities, increase their spheres of influence and eventually model and promote global citizenship through their actions.

As a participant in the Global Citizenship Learning Programme, you will:

  • Experience different cultures first-hand and learn to work across boundaries of place and identity through practical workshops, training and mentoring projects.
  • Work alongside and build relationships with other changemaker students in China, India, Chile, Ghana, Germany and the United States.
  • Expand your knowledge of relevant global issues related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
  • Co-create and develop impact projects with fellows and partners in your community and around the world for change initiatives - small and large - for a wider impact.
  • Acquire skills in areas such as intercultural communication, teamwork, design thinking, project management, storytelling, podcasting, ethical leadership and systems thinking.
  • Subject to active participation, be invited to attend a fully sponsored annual face-to-face convention in China, India, Chile, Ghana, Germany and/or the United States.
  • Upon successful completion of the programme, become part of the unique, lifelong and strengthened global community of over 600 Senior Melton Fellows.

Eligibility

  • Open to university students with a passion for impacting the local community aged between 18 and 25 who are currently enrolled at partner universities.
  • Candidates should have sufficient English language skills to express themselves and understand others while discussing the complex nature of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Expectations

As a participant, you can expect the following during the year and a half of the Global Citizenship Learning Programme:

  • Take part in online learning activities via the online learning modules (approximately 5 hours/month).
  • Working in global project teams (depending on the project, average estimate: 5 hours/month). 
  • Take part in community projects (depending on the involvement of the local community, average estimate: 5 hours/month).

Please note: the modules and timetable shown are subject to minimal changes to accommodate the face-to-face components of the programme.

Application

The first and most important step is to submit your application by the application deadline, using the designated online application form. All online applications must be received by 15 November 2023, 12 noon Eastern Standard Time (EST). Applicants from Temuco, Chile, have an extended deadline of 1 December 2023.
